Wineries

From the amateur to the connoisseur, this sought after wine region is sure to impress

There are plenty of family owned and boutique wineries offering their own twist on the region’s wines and emerging wine varieties.

Here the soils produce outstanding example of Shiraz, Tempranillo, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and while wines including some excellent Rieslings, and Ligonier.  The wine making experience may be shared up close and personal at several cellar doors.

For lovers of sparkling wine we recommend Girraween Estate.

Take a behind the scenes tour to meet the winemakers and taste their wares, or just turn up and sample the wine at friendly cellar doors. Ballandean Estate offers three winery tours daily for visitors at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. The tour includes a vineyard walk, then a production and barrel room tour, finishing at the cellar door and is available to all-comers. Tours are free, no booking required – simply arrive just before the start time.

Summit Estate Wines also offers winery tours as well as wine and cheese matching.  They also have some wonderful winter experiences including their Winter Solstice event where you can enjoy tasting in front of the warm glow of a bon fire.
